Overview

St. Mark's Coptic Orthodox Cathedral is the seat of the Coptic Orthodox pope, built during the time of Cyril VI pope, and it was inaugurated by him in 1969. The church is located in the Abbassia District in Cairo, It is named after St Mark the Evangelist, relics of his life are kept inside. It is by far the largest cathedral in Africa and the Middle East. designed by the famous Coptic civil engineer Michel Bakhoum. It has a capacity for 5,000 worshipers.
